Callander and Hamish

Hello everyone! Today Lauren and I made the journey to Callander to visit the Trossachs Woollen Mill to visit Hamish the Highland Cow.  So, we got a bus (from the Stirling bus station, I might add.  This was a new experience for me) and off we went to Callander.  Around this time it began to rain.  At first it wasn't bad.  At least not for a while.

We got into Callander about a half in hour later.  The bus ride was pretty ok.  We didn't exactly know where to get off in Callander, so we saw a sign for tourist information (which was inside a church) and lots of people were getting off the bus, so we decided to just go with the flow of people.  It turned out to work pretty well.

Here's the church were the information center was.

This is jut a random Callander picture.  The town wasn't too big (I think that Hamish was the main attraction).

So, we went into the information center to get directions to see Hamish.  As far as information centers go, this one was really nice and had some good souvenirs.  Plus, the people were actually pretty helpful.  Although, the man that we got directions from did give us kind of a weird look when we told him we were walking.  (I don't really know why.  It wasn't that far away.)

After getting our directions, we headed off towards Trossachs Woollen Mill.  Along the way, we saw all kinds of fun stuff.

Like lots of lambs.

They were adorable and were really close to the walking path we were on.

Even though it was raining, the country-side was still really pretty.

Eventually, we found Trossachs Woollen Mill.  And luckily, Hamish and Co. were out today.

Here are (starting from the right) Hamish, baby, and Heather.  (The baby hasn't been named yet.)

They got really close to the gate.

I really just felt like I needed a picture with Hamish.

Here's the woollen mill.

By this point, it was raining hard.  So, we went inside and looked around the gift shop and I got some lunch in the cafeteria area.  Once we realized that the rain really wasn't going to let up, we ventured back outside and made our way back to the town center.

Before we left, there was a man feeding Hamish some unidentified objects, and once he left I managed to touch Hamish! I'm super excited about this.  One of my goals for Scotland was to touch a highland coo. Mission completed.

Once we got back into town, we looked around some of the gift shops (and we went to a fudge shop where I bought some fudge of course) before getting our bus back to Stirling.  Since it was still raining pretty hard, we wandered around the Thistle Center for a little while before picking up some fired pizza for dinner (I really thought that Lauren needed to try this).  Then, we had a nice evening of sitting in my room (where it was dry) and watched Jurassic Park III.  It was a good night.  Tomorrow we plan to go into Edinburgh and do some souvenir shopping.  Hopefully the weather will be better then!
